With work staying consistent, finishing around 11am, I continued to explore Methven finding all sorts of new things. One of my favorites being the Methven walkway that took me through enormous pine trees, along beautiful lupine fields in full bloom and over lazy rivers that continued to carry glacial silt down from the mountains, turning the river a bright blue aqua color. I’ve been so happy and content just spending time out in the fields, going on walks or jogs around town and just enjoying the scenery around me. The beauty around here just never ends. I can spend hours and hours exploring new places only minutes away that will have me even more excited to go out the next day and find more.

Whilst most of Quebec is drying up and crying out for rain the surging, swirling, intimidating waters of the Misstasibi (pronounced: Mister-si-bi) are going strong! I was able to make the 5 hour journey up from Montreal to Qubec Raft in Saint-Stanislas on the shores of Lac St-Jean. What awaited me was two days of fun on the Misstasibi and one of the best rafting and kayaking experiences anywhere.

Set in Winter Park, Colorado, the Colorado Freeride Festival is a multi-day event that does it’ best to show how hurling down a hillside on a bit of metal and leaping over a heap of dirt can be a lot of fun.

However, recently I had a moment where I was transported back to being 14 years old, when I received my first snowboard. I’d sleep with it next to my bed so it would be the first thing I’d see upon opening my eyes in the morning. I’d never felt so excited about anything in my life, and I’m not really sure I’ve ever felt that way since. This “flash back” moment was triggered by the delivery of our new range or Dragon goggles. They simply look, and feel, like something the X-Men would wear to fight evil and save the world. The flat-out-bonkers, over-the-top design is so radical that I literally dribbled over the boxes as I unpacked them.

On a recent trip to Ben Nevis, Scotland, I tested Quechua’s 2Seconds Easy Tent to investigate the practicalities of a self-erecting tent and its performance in the typically turbulent Scottish Highland weather.

I’ve recently started training for a triathlon later in the summer, but living in London have struggled to find decent cycle routes to train on. Cue the RideIt! series, a selection of organised mountain bike and sportive bike rides that take place twice a month around the UK. Arranged by Evans Cycles, the series offers a variety of distances to cater for all cyclists.

For some water-sport enthusiasts however, this is an all-year-round vocation. We managed to catch up with professional wind-surfer Chris ‘Muzza’ Murray, who certainly doesn’t let a cold and wet day get in the way. Chris has been playing in the open water since he can remember, holding on to big sponsors in a time of uncertainty while going from event to event taking silverware home. This is what he had to say:

As airlines open up routes from Europe to the region, Jordan’s tourism infrastructure seems to be more geared to package or tour-based holiday deals. Still, there is still plenty on offer for independent travellers. The sites of greatest interest lie along the western side of the country, where three parallel highways, each taking slightly different routes, link the capital, Amman, to Aqaba on the Red Sea, via the Dead Sea, Petra and the Jordanian Highlands.

The tour began simultaneously in Cape Reinga (North of the North Island) and Bluff (South of the South Island) at 8am on Saturday April 14th, from where cyclists routed 700 kilomtetres over eight days to the Beehive in Wellington on the south of the North Island. Cyclists were able to choose which route they took, either by linked South with North, or by completing the ride entirely on the North Island. The optional routes gave rides the chance to experience very different terrain from Queenstown to Wanaka, then Twizel, Tekapo and Fairlie on the South Island, or Waitomo, Wanganuie and Wellington on the North Island.
