Founded in 1942 in Sweden, Thule are the favoured accessories brand by a number of car manufactures. As well as having their own adventure team, Thule are also revered for their stylish products which are now the hallmark of any weekend adventurer. The brand’s collection caters for summer and winter adventure pursuits and includes carriers for snowsports, watersports and cycling.
The Thule ProRide is a roof transportation system for carrying bikes on the roof of your car. The unit attaches to Thule load bars and is able to take any size of bike, road or downhill. I used the Aero Bar and lockable Rapid System Feet which were put in place with only a single allen key. There are numerous alternative fixtures for different sized vehicles so work your way through the site to find out which models fit your car.
A number of Magnetic Junction reviewers put the ProRide through its paces during the summer, finding it quick and simple to fit in less than 20 minutes. It seemed very secure and completed a 5 hour motorway journey without an excess noise or rattles to report. A dip in fuel economy was reported, but this is sadly inevitable if the car is full of people and kit for destinations that are inaccesible by public transport.
