The Robey Hotel in Chicago
Will Ross, May 8, 2025

Located in the northwest Wicker Park and Bucktown neighborhoods, The Robey is a Design Hotel within reach of the Rapha Clubhouse in Chicago and the only U.S. hotel in the portfolio of Mexico’s Grupo Habita.
The 12-storey Art Deco Northwest Tower was first completed in 1929, converted into a hotel in 2016 with the help of Belgian design firm Nicolas Schuybroek Architects and local firm Delordinaire. The office building design from Perkins, Chatten & Hammond now houses contemporary hotel that references the near 100-year-old building.
Room types cover a narrow range, each making the most of the flat iron shape created by Damen and Milwaukee Avenues. 69 Tower Rooms are paired with 20 Annex Lofts and a range of rooms including larger Suites and standard rooms with bunk beds as an extra.
Modern American cuisine is served up at Café Robey at street level, while Up Room raises cocktail standards. As for a gym – The Robey doesn’t have a fitness room but guests get free access to Bucktown Athletic Club with their booking.
Training Notes
The 606 Trail, also known as the Bloomingdale Trail, is a 2.7-mile elevated greenway just steps from The Robey Hotel. This converted rail line offers a scenic, car-free path ideal for runners, weaving through Wicker Park, Bucktown, Logan Square, and Humboldt Park. Its flat terrain and urban views make it a favorite among locals and visitors alike.

Cyclists can also use the 606 Trail and 2.1-mile Humboldt Park Loop for spinning the lefts. For longer rides, the Skokie Valley Trail offers a 6.4-mile stretch suitable for more extended cycling adventures, and the Rapha Clubhouse is nearby for group rides and bike rentals in Chicago.
The Robey Hotel’s rooftop the Cabana Club isn’t adequate for swimming lengths. 1.4 miles south-east towards Downtown is Eckhart Park Pool.
