SmartWool PhD Ski Sock
Ross McEwen, January 13, 2011
The Smartwool PhD light sock is manufactured from Merino wool and uses SmartWool’s 4-Degree Fit System, which puts more cushioning where it’s needed for skiing and ski mountaineering. While any pair of socks will wear out in time, Smartwool have managed an ethical portfolio to defend that fresh pair feel.
I found the PHD light sock to be an excellent companion for long days on the mountains. My feet remained warm and circulation was good for 9 days of skiing across varying conditions in early January. The great thing about Smartwool technology is that the sock remains relatively dry during the day. Whereas most socks build up moisture, the Smartwool PHD Ski cock wicks away moisture to make heat regulation easier. Of course less moisture means a nice, odourless sock.
A simple product for an important task, the PHD sock steps up.
