Brighton Pier Open Water Swim, England

, March 3, 2023

Scheduled to take place on the final Saturday of July, the Brighton Pier Open Water Swim is a 1200m, timed race around the historic Brighton Palace Pier. Starting on the east side of the pier (Margate side), the swim sets out in a clockwise direction, pivoting around the tip of the pier before ending at the beach on the west (Cornwall) side of the pier.

The swim is open to all abilities (there is no cut-off time), and entry fees support organisation Seabirds who harness the power of open water to improve mental health.

Cycle-friendly & bag drop

Race organiser Mark Hedger owns the bike hire shop next to the pier, Brighton Beach Bikes. They’re able to look after belongings free-of-charge, and can also store bikes – £5 for the day. Mark has been swimming in Brighton for 30 years, so is also a resource for navigating the route and turning points.

The 2023 version is planned to start at 11am on Saturday 29th July. Reserve dates are the following day, Sunday 30th July, or else on the weekend of 12/13 August. Entry is £22. On-the-day entries not permitted.
