Oktoberfest Weekend at Vegan Hotel SeinZ, Bavaria
Will Ross, May 9, 2018
Wander 75km south of Munich to the small Bavarian village of Bad Kohlgrub for nights September 21st and 22nd and enjoy a weekend of cycling and trail running out of SeinZ, a new vegan hotel that places a priority on healing and cuisine, serving up three meals to its guests as part of the pricing. This weekend marks the first of Oktoberfest, so feel free to pair the weekend with some end-of-season celebrations in Munich.
SeinZ is located at the gateway to the Ammergau Alps, a formidable range of mountains that should be stunning by the time the beers start tumbling in Munich. I’m looking to bring together a 100km road cycling route for the Saturday, and a trail run for the Sunday. Bike rental will be handled by a nearby bike store – see their rental options and day costs. Mountain biking and road cycling is available from SeinZ’s doorstep, so please state your preference by emailing me once you have made a booking.
Per person prices are €119 (single occupancy) €104 (double) and €94 (triple), with meals from Friday night to Sunday breakfast included (five meals total).
To get to the hotel, either rent a car from Munich Airport and drive the 90 minutes to the Bad Kohlgrub, or else take the train from Munich’s central station (Hauptbahnhof). The train journey takes 90 minutes – search for timings with thetrainline.eu and try to get to the hotel for 7pm on the Friday. If you’re coming with a bike, you’ll need to book this separately at the station (c. €7), unless it’s packed within a bike box.
