Aberfeldy Middle Distance Triathlon, Scotland

, April 6, 2025

A mid-August weekend in the central belt of Scotland hosts an open water swim, aquabike and Middle Distance Triathlon – the Aberfeldy Multi Sport Festival. The eastern shore of Loch Tay acts as the race HQ and swim, with highland terrain presenting a challenging bike route.

Swim (1.9 km): The race begins with a swim in Loch Tay, starting at Taymouth Marina near Kenmore. Athletes complete a single loop before transitioning to the bike course.

Bike (88 km): The cycling leg takes participants on a challenging yet picturesque route. It begins in Kenmore, heads over the Schiehallion Road to Kinloch Rannoch, loops around Loch Rannoch, and returns via the Schiehallion climb to Aberfeldy. This section features significant elevation changes more resembling Celtman than your typical 70.3.

Run (21 km): The final leg is an out-and-back run along quiet roads beside the River Tay. Starting from Wade’s Park in Aberfeldy, athletes head toward Strathtay before returning to the finish line at Wade’s Park.

Feed stations are strategically placed on both the bike and run courses to support athletes. The event concludes with a recovery area and celebrations at the finish line in Aberfeldy.
